Last Epoch Dev Chat 190: Season 4 Hints, Stash Upgrade, Affix Exchange, and Roadmap Updates

Oct-17-2025 PST

This week’s Q&A brought some long-awaited insights and juicy teasers about Season 4, plus updates on stash improvements, affix exchanges, and the ever-elusive roadmap. Let’s break it all down.

Season 4 Teaser: The Mysterious “Flow”

As always, Mike kept things playful and cryptic when asked to describe Season 4 in a single word. His answer?

“Flow.”

That’s it—just flow. Naturally, this sent the community spinning with speculation. Is it related to smoother gameplay systems, movement mechanics, or maybe new skill synergy? Knowing Last Epoch’s track record, it’s probably a mix of all three. What we do know is that the next cycle is shaping up to evolve core systems rather than just add more surface content.

Stash Overhaul Incoming

Another big reveal came when Mike addressed one of the most requested quality-of-life fixes in Last Epoch—the stash system.

Currently, every seasonal stash remains visible even after it’s emptied, leaving players scrolling through endless tabs from past cycles. Mike confirmed that the team is actively working on stash updates:

“We are working on updates to the stash system—layout, visuals, what buttons are there, what functionality is available.”

This means better sorting, improved visuals, and potentially an option to hide or remove empty legacy tabs. Anyone who’s ever cleaned out their stash from Season 1 onward knows how tedious it can get. These updates can’t come soon enough.

Fire Aura and Righteous Fire Rework

Now for something truly exciting—Righteous Fire and Fire Aura are back on the menu!

During the stream, Mike previewed a new tooltip for Fire Aura that revealed major reworks coming in Season 4. The two most important changes?

Intelligence Scaling – Fire Aura now scales directly with Intelligence, adding base spell damage equal to your Int value. So if you’ve got 150 Intelligence, that’s 150 base spell damage right there.

Double Effectiveness – The effectiveness modifier has been increased from 70% to 140%, effectively doubling its output. Having sufficient Last Epoch gold will also enhance output.

The result? Massive improvements for builds that rely on Fire Aura—especially Righteous Fire Rune Master setups. For fans of ignite-heavy gameplay, this is a huge buff.

“Outrageous” Feature Discussion: Specializable Item Abilities

In one of the more fascinating moments of the Q&A, Mike was asked what “outrageous” feature he’d love to see added to Last Epoch. His answer raised a few eyebrows:

“Items that give specializable abilities.”

Imagine equipping a bow that grants Puncture as an active ability—or armor that lets you slot and customize a skill tree unique to that item. According to Mike, this feature is technically possible within the current system but not yet planned for the next cycle. Still, the fact that it’s even on the table is wild. If implemented, it could revolutionize how items and builds interact in Last Epoch.

Affix Shard Exchange: Maybe Next Season

Another feature players have been clamoring for is an Affix Shard Exchange, allowing unwanted shards to be swapped for useful ones. Mike seemed surprised it wasn’t already in the game:

“I could’ve sworn there was a playtest that had this. Maybe it got pulled for some reason. Hopefully soon.”

So while not confirmed for Season 4, it’s clearly on the radar. A shard exchange would massively reduce inventory clutter and improve crafting flexibility.

More Fire Aura Buffs: Overcapped Resist = Damage

Following the Fire Aura teaser, Mike also hinted at an existing Spellblade passive node being reworked for synergy. Previously, this node granted base spell damage for every two points of Intelligence. In the new version, overcapped Fire Resistance will now grant multiplicative fire damage.

To put that into perspective, many Spellblades can hit 800 to 1,200 overcapped Fire Res, which could translate into 1,000% or more multiplicative damage for Fire Aura builds. Combined with the Intelligence scaling, this change could completely redefine fire-based builds in Season 4.

Roadmap Woes: “Coming Soon… Still”

If you’ve been following Last Epoch’s development, you know the community’s running joke: “Soon™.”

The devs have promised a new roadmap several times—first “soon,” then “very soon,” then “just finalizing it.” Yet weeks later, fans are still refreshing Discord every Friday, waiting for the drop. Mike addressed it with his trademark honesty:

“That roadmap is very outdated… superseded by a new one, which is also outdated. The next roadmap is coming soon. I thought last week—but I was wrong.”

So, in short: a new roadmap is coming, but there’s no exact date. Mike also clarified that older roadmaps shouldn’t be relied upon for upcoming features, as plans have shifted significantly since 1.1.

It’s good to see that the team values strategic timing while maintaining a consistent cadence for players. Last Epoch has built a loyal audience, and balancing updates with major ARPG competitors is just smart business.

Final Thoughts

Dev Chat 190 didn’t just tease a few changes—it hinted at a major gameplay evolution coming in Season 4. Have plenty of cheap Last Epoch gold to experience the gameplay. Between Fire Aura buffs, stash improvements, potential affix exchanges, and whispers of item-specialization systems, the future looks bright for Last Epoch.

As always, Mike’s transparency and humor keep the community engaged. Whether you’re theory-crafting your next Righteous Fire build or just waiting for that elusive roadmap, it’s clear that the Eleventh Hour team is refining their masterpiece one step at a time.

Season 4 might just be the most flowing experience yet.
