Skull and Bones Season 3 Prep Guide: What to Do Before Dark Tide Lullaby Ends
Oct-09-2025 PST
This guide will walk you through what's expiring, what carries over, and what you'll want to prepare for in the coming weeks.
The End of Dark Tide Lullaby
Mark your calendars: Friday night marks the official end of Dark Tide Lullaby. For those of us in the Central Time Zone, that reset usually hits around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Here's what that means:
Spend your heartfelt wishes (the little red teabag icon). They won't carry over, so don't let them go to waste.
Make sure you've claimed everything from the season pass.
Premium pass owners will receive all premium rewards.
Standard pass players will only get the free track rewards.
Nothing too shocking there, but it's always worth the reminder-unspent seasonal currency just disappears into the waves.
Guild Marks and Seasonal Currencies
One of the biggest community questions right now is: Do guild marks reset?
The answer is yes. Based on how things worked moving from Season 1 to Season 2, guild marks (previously Kufer bars) do not transfer into the next season. Instead, Ubisoft will usually provide a way to convert unused guild marks into silver at the end of the season.
That means:
Don't hoard guild marks. Spend what you can at vendors like Blackwood.
Stockpile at least 5,000 guild marks heading into the last weeks. It gives you flexibility to grab what's worth it.
Double guild mark events are your friend. The best grind spot is the Mega Fort Wing Hall, which yields both iron and marks at a fast rate.
The good news is, when a new season begins, it's relatively easy to rebuild your guild marks. Weekly and seasonal leaderboards reward them generously, especially early in a season.
Helm Progression: What Stays and What Goes
Another hot topic is the helm system-the central hub for upgrades, manufactories, and resource management. In the past, players worried they'd need to grind out another 300,000 pieces of eight to restart their helm every season.
Thankfully, Ubisoft confirmed that helm upgrades no longer reset. When Season 2 began, all helm progress (tech trees, manufactories, upgrades) stayed intact. That will remain true for Season 3.
What's changing, however, is the introduction of a Seasonal Journey system.
This will act like a temporary tech tree that resets each season.
Expect buffs and bonuses for ships tied to this seasonal progression.
Future systems-like officer training and hand-to-hand combat-will likely connect to these trees.
So, your permanent helm remains safe, but seasonal trees will require fresh progression each cycle.
Preparing for New Ships and Weapons
One reason to save your pieces of eight is the introduction of new ships and gear in Season 3. So far, we know to expect:
A new corvette-class ship.
A mysterious new "poison ship" with toxin-based weapon effects.
Expanded poison effects for existing weapons.
Armor ascensions and gear upgrades requiring silver and pieces of eight.
If you're already comfortable with your helm resources and silver, you're in great shape. But if you're sitting light, now's the time to grind. New ships and weapons don't come cheap, and upgrades can sink your reserves fast.
Pro tip: leave a few ship slots empty. With a maximum of 40 ships, many players (myself included) keep around 30–35 slots filled. That way, you'll have room to experiment with new hulls when they drop instead of having to scuttle old builds.
Inventory Management and Currency Changes
Ubisoft has been quietly tinkering with how inventories and currencies behave across resets. Players have noticed:
Extra storage slots appearing after resets.
Certain items being swapped out or renamed.
Limits on bulk-buying items from vendors like Geneita (no more stocking up endlessly).
The takeaway? Hold onto your resources. Don't mass-sell items or materials until we know exactly how Season 3's conversion system works. There are rumors of 26 new materials being added, and it's almost guaranteed Ubisoft will provide a compensation or exchange mechanic for outdated items.Faction Wars and Future Features
One of the most anticipated features is finally coming: Faction Wars. This promises to bring large-scale, competitive naval battles tied to faction alignment. Expect rewards tied to guild marks, seasonal progression, and unique cosmetics.
Other teased features include:
Officer system-Customize and train officers for ship bonuses.
Hand-to-hand combat-Expanding gameplay beyond ship battles.
Armor ascensions-New progression paths for defensive builds.
We're still waiting on a full roadmap for timing, but Ubisoft has confirmed these systems are in the pipeline.
Compensation and Bugs
A sore point in Season 2 was the helm bug where ships failed to pick up resources while players were offline, leading to lost pieces of eight and currencies. Ubisoft has acknowledged the issue but has yet to finalize compensation.
Realistically, expect something modest-likely helm chests (around 25 or so). Pieces of eight no longer hold the weight they once did, so don't expect massive payouts.
Event Calendar and Remaining Season 2 Content
Dark Tide Lullaby is wrapping up, but there are still a couple of events before Season 3 launches:
Gloria Dorned event-Running after the Lullaby conclusion.
Final guild mark events-Expect double guild marks in the last weeks, just like past seasons.
These final weeks are all about cleanup: spend your currencies, grind your last marks, and prep for the incoming conversion.
Tips for the Final Grind
1.Spend your heartfelt wishes-They vanish at reset.
2.Burn through guild marks-Stockpile 5,000+ and focus on Mega Fort Wing Hall during double events.
3.Save silver and pieces of eight-You'll need both for new ships, armor ascensions, and weapon upgrades.
4.Leave ship slots open-Season 3's corvette and poison ship will eat up space.
5.Don't mass-sell materials yet-Wait until Ubisoft clarifies how outdated mats will convert.
6.Expect helm progress to carry over-No need to panic about re-grinding manufactories.
Looking Ahead to Season 3
With about three weeks left in Season 2, the excitement for Season 3 is building. Between new ships, poison effects, seasonal journeys, and the long-awaited Faction Wars, it feels like Skull and Bones is starting to find its rhythm.
While the game has had its fair share of bumps-currency resets, bugs, vendor changes-the community remains hungry for more content. If Ubisoft can deliver on its roadmap promises, Season 3 could be the most important turning point yet.
So for now: grind smart, manage your currencies and Skull and Bones Silver, and keep your fleets flexible. Because once the Season 3 seas open, you're going to want to set sail with every advantage possible.
Fair winds, Captains. See you out there.
